Online piano lessons for preschool students?

Learning how to play the piano can be an entertaining activity for all preschool children. From my experience so far, I have noticed that students aged 5 to 7 gladly accept the creative world of music, enthusiastically acquire all knowledge, and, most importantly, come back to classes with a big smile to learn even more. Developing this artistic skill together with a professional teacher can be one of the most fun games in their daily repertoire. One of the things that I have also noticed is that the ability to master and play beautiful sounds with their own fingers is a thrilling adventure for them.

What to expect from preschool online music lessons?

In most cases, students are during their first lessons introduced to the piano and the universal language of music, the notes (music letters). By that, it means that students will learn how to orient on piano (what kinds of different sounds can piano make), read the notes, find their places on piano, different duration of notes, how to play in rhythm, and maybe also include singing. No matter is it an online or live class is, I dedicate a lot of attention to teaching them how to read the notes. In most cases, they are the starting point for each next step in mastering a song. Many songs that the child will encounter during his music education start by reading them first. Most importantly, when the student is practicing without the supervision of a teacher, he can easily manage it by himself because he has already learned the music language. For that reason, knowing how to read the notes presents a great foundation on which it is easy to develop and upgrade their piano skills.

Small steps to big success

In the classes for young beginners, long, hard-to-follow teacher’s monologues are replaced with a communicative and playful approach where the dialog is the key for acquiring the base knowledge for piano playing. Therefore, all classes are conceived by introducing only one, two, or three new information. With that kind of approach, the student gets time to understand and profoundly acquire all knowledge. For example, in the first class, the student is introduced with only two notes, Do and Re, and two different lengths of notes, a quarter (note of short duration) and a half note(a longer one). In the next lesson, the student learns two more new notes, and so on indefinitely. With this teaching method, students are not frightened or preoccupied with a large amount of information but are gradually introduced to the world of piano and music. That has proven me a more efficient development of their skills – when they break the ice, they become unstoppable.

With games to knowledge

All new information are not learned only by listening to the teacher and playing the songs. During classes, numerous additional activities are also included: drawing notes on the screen, singing songs, and playing music games, such as guessing the note, finding the note on the piano or in music staff, flashcards, and many others. So, all necessary theoretical knowledge for piano playing is also practiced with fun and practical activities. Besides that they can be very entertaining, with them they can also give them long-lasting, thorough knowledge. The results of such activities can surprise me even today. For example, after a long period of not encountering one particular term, a five-year-old student memorized it and explained very precisely in their own words. So, not only are they interested in playing the piano, but they also have fun while learning.

Is it even possible to learn piano online?

Children aged 5 to 7 most effectively learn through visual perception. For that reason, the digital classroom can be an advantaging solution for your child’s education because all information are projected through one screen in the comfort of his home. Since online education has been rapidly developing, there is no need to be frightened about online education – all teaching methods are adjustable to the digital classroom. Also, your child will not only acquire equal knowledge as it would in a traditional school but will also have a rich and diverse experience in the digital environment. All developed software and tools in it give them a wide opportunity of usage, like reading notes, following them and my instructions on the screen, drawing and writing with tools (pencils, lasers), watching various educational multimedia materials, observing or participating in games, and seeing his and my playing from different angles.

This is not just piano playing

Although making music can be one of the delightful and exciting hobbies, playing this giant instrument has a very beneficial effect on adults and children. Besides the fact that scientific research has proven that all parts of the brain are actively working only during piano playing, it also stimulates the child’s motivation, encourages them for public speaking, and evolves a sense for multi-tasking. At the same time, piano playing also develops imagination, emotions, empathy, and intelligence. The child’s talent isn’t problematic, it is the approach

One of the most important things that a parent should pay attention to when looking for a piano teacher for his young child is how is he conceives piano lessons and approaches little piano beginners. They should be playful, dedicated, concise, and systematically organized because of their ages. Although this fact is a logical thought that should be implied when it comes to educating the smallest ones, during my career, I have met a large number of disappointed and frightened children who have lost the self-confidence to participate in the world of music because teachers demanded more from them than their age can do it. That is why music classes should be organized individually, according to their age, abilities, ambitions, and goals.

For your child

I believe that each student should be approached patiently, uniquely, systematically, and optimistically because every child is special in their way, and therefore deserves appropriate education that is matched only to him and his current abilities. An excellent teacher should give everyone an equal chance to participate in the world of music, understand each of them and allow enough time to master all challenges. Therefore, I encourage all parents to register their children for a free trial and take a step into the creative world of music.
